The 16-year-old Form Three student , Cliff Mayieka, was buried at his parents' home in Nyambaria village in Manga, Nyamira County.

Mayieka's decomposing body was recovered from the floor of the pit latrine within the school compound with his hands tied on Tuesday after going missing for a couple of days.

KNUT chairman wondered why the school failed to send a representative to the burial.

"Mayieka is being buried in the absence of even one representative from the school where he was learning. It paints a bad picture of the school given that the deceased was a student at the school before he met his death," noted Morara.

The official urged teachers across the county to ensure safety of the students.

"The school could not explain his death. Teachers need to take the lives of students seriously and ensure there safety," he stated.

He challenged police officers to speed up investigations to establish whether the deceased was killed or he committed suicide.
