Bor says the policy the ministry of education that allowed students leaders to be given big names such as governors, senators, and ministers is to blame for the unrests.

“Such big names that students have been given have made them develop a big man syndrome thus affecting their character,” said Bor in Eldoret town, Saturday.

The Chepkoilel KNUT boss noted that the ministry should revert to the old system where student’s leaders were referred to as prefects.

“As union leaders, we condemn with strongest terms the unrests in school and we support the ministry's proposal that any student involved in any form of violence to face the full force of the law,” noted Bor.

He said once unrests in schools are criminalized no students will be involved in such acts for fear of prosecution.

The KNUT official also blamed parents for leaving their responsibilities to teachers pointing out that parents have a responsibility in enhancing the character of their children.

He advised parents to be close to their children by regularly visiting them in schools so that in case of any change of character, they can be noticed and helped.
