The ODM party may have out-rightly won the Kisauni MP seat on August 8th had it obeyed the wishes of the residents of the constituency.

Kisauni is among constituencies which the Orange party lost following wrangles that rocked it over who should carry the party's flag for the parliamentary seat.

The wrangles pitted then MP and former General Service Unit officer Rashid Bedzimba and his closest rival and opposition chief Raila Odinga's close ally and current MP Ali Mbogo.

The two were at loggerheads over leadership and because of their closeness to the party's top leadership, ODM made one blunder- it pushed hard for Bedzimba to be given the party's certificate during the ODM party primaries. This development repulsed Mbogo who by then was a darling of majority of Kisauni constituents.

Mbogo, however, because he also enjoyed close ties with Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka refused to support Bedzimba as ordered by ODM and decided to cross to Kalonzo's camp.

He was issued with a party certificate and won the parliamentary seat.

Had ODM remained loyal to the wishes of Kisauni voters, Ali Mbogo would be MP now under the ODM party.

Bedzimba had emerged as a weak candidate over his alleged poor development record for the first five years he was in Parliament.

Mbogo, today, is among Coast MPs pushing for Deputy President William Ruto to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta when he leaves State House in 2022.
