An Administration Police officer was arraigned before a Maralal Law Courts to answer to charges of stealing from Garissa Stores.

Shadrack Kiprop Langat, who is based at the Marala AP camp, was being accused of allegedly stealing foodstuff and credit cards worth more than Sh100,000.

The accused person allegedly committed the offence on the night of December 11-12 last year.

The court heard that the accused together with others not before the court broke into Garissa Stores and stole the items.

Among the items stolen include seven bags of rice, 50 cartons of cooking fat, one bale of packed rice and drinking straws.

The accused person together with others stole seven three-litre containers of cooking oil, two bundles of pampers, two credit books and cash, all valued at Sh95,010 belonging to Peter Mutahi.

The court further heard that the accused broke into Nakos Store belonging to Bosco Kialai and stole goods worth Sh20,000.

The accused person however denied the charges before Principal Magistrate Richard Koech.

Magistrate Koech directed that the officer be released on a Sh200,000 bond with a surety of similar amount or Sh50,000 cash bail pending the next case hearing.

The case will be heard on March 26.
