Gatundu South member of parliament has weighed in on the proposal to introduce an additional tier of government beyond the national and county governments.
Speaking on Sunday, the outspoken offered his critique of the proposal, terming it an attempt to bribe outgoing governors.
He said that there was no justification for saddling the Kenyan people with another tier of government.
"We don't need to overburden this country just to give some 24 guys some jobs. If we have three tier governments let it be because it is good for the country not because not to bribe some people otherwise I consider it a bribery, " the outspoken governing Jubilee legislator said.
A section of governors from the coastal region proposed that another tier of government that will merge counties be introduced.
The county bosses proposed the introduction of the additional tier as their contribution to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) debate.
Kenya currently has a 2-tier government that comprises of the national government and the county governments.
Changing that structure will require a constitutional referendum.
Those against the move to alter that structure contend that it will saddle the Kenyan people with even more tax and will kill devolution as Kenyans have known it since the promulgation of the constitution.
