Residents of Kianyabao village in West Mugirango constituency in Nyamira County on Sunday morning watched a free wrestling match after two brothers exchanged blows over dowry inheritance.
It is alleged that the two, Victor Riang'a and Amos Omori fought over 3 cows their elder sister's husband gave them as dowry.
"Riang'a wanted to inherit two out of the three cows the proposal Omori objected saying they must share the dowry equally. Angered Raing'a attacked Omori prompting to the fight," said a local Charles Anyega.
Mary Nyabonyi, a neighbor said Omori who is young overpowered Riang'a and injured him severely.
"Neighbors had to intervene to rescue Riang'a who was overpowered. It is high time elders to ensure the two share the dowry equally otherwise one of them may end up dying," she noted.
Area assistant chief Julius Mong'iti said elders will have to decide on how the dowry should be shared among the two.
"I have directed elders to sit and find the way forward on how the three cows should be shared among the two brothers," said Mong'iti.
The chief warned locals against careless fights in the village.
