Otumo said food vendors should keep off from selling foods in open places which are dirty to curb any Cholera outbreak, a disease which has already been reported in Nairobi.

"Residents cooking and selling food at the roadside must stop before the law catches up with them. As county health officers, we are calling on all residents to maintain high hygiene to curb cholera outbreak," he noted on Tuesday in his office.

The Health Services officer said there is no cause of alarm because the county government through the department of health will not sleep on the job.

"Health officers will traverse the county to ensure no one is selling food at the roadside as this will help curb Cholera," Otumo said.

The officer urged residents not to risk their lives by eating foods being hawked at the roadside. He further threatened that hotels found to be dirty will not be spared.

"Health officers will shut down hotels failing to maintain hygiene," he added.
