Opposition leader Raila Odinga will most likely take another shot at the presidency in 2022, according to his indications and those of his allies.
Though the Luo Nyanza kingpin is yet to disclose his plans, he has been meeting other politicians, while his allies have been heard saying that he is not to be overlooked as the polls near.
Should he decide to vie, then the former Prime Minister will most likely concentrate most of his attention on other regions since he is guaranteed of the Luo Nyanza vote.
And to prevent any attack and possible invasion during his absence, he will constitute a strong team of his allies to look spearhead his campaigns in the lakeside region.
These will obviously include Siaya Senator James Orengo who is known to do even the impossible for the sake of the Orange Party chief.
Condidered Raila’s second-in-command and Luo Nyanza’s second most influential leader, Orengo’s inclusion in the team is compulsory and will be effective. He might be deployed to the Siaya county.
The other is Suna East lawmaker Junet Mohammed. The vocal parliamentarian is another Raila die-hard and has been getting closer and closer to the African Union Infrastructure Development chief lately.
The youthful leader could lead others in spreading Raila’s gospel in Migori County.
Also likely to be involved is Suba South and National Assembly Minority Leader John Mbadi, another top politician who could represent Raila in Homabay, as Governor Cyprian Awiti slips into retirement.
In Kisumu, Odinga might decide to delegate his blessings to area Senator Fred Outa who is considered the most vocal leader in the region, but also has the option of his sister and former Deputy Governor Ruth Odinga.
Though Raila has another long-time ally in the area in the name of Governor Anyang’ Nyong’o, the ever-busy county chief who is also not good in shouting matches during campaigns is not the best option.
To top it up, he will also crown Homabay Woman Representative Gladys Wanga to lead the women battalion in taking care of his bedrock for him.
