Speaking at Kiuku secondary school on Saturday, Maanzo termed the programme as against the law since it was not approved by Parliament.

He warned that lawmakers might move to court to block its implementation.

"The CBC training is against the law and the new curriculum policy should first pass through parliament before it is brought to schools," said Maanzo who also demanded the release of arrested Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Makueni branch officials.

Similar sentiments were shared by Kaiti lawmaker Joshua Kimilu who said there was a need for the government to have talks with teachers concerning the new curriculum to avoid education paralysis.

"The education ministry should come to an agreement with KNUT to avoid confusion in schools so that our kids can get the best. When these two parties are fighting it's our kids who suffer," said Kimilu at a different event in Kilala.

On Tuesday, Makueni police arrested two KNUT officials over the disruption of the CBC training.

The two, union's secretary Gabriel Kisilu and Miriam Mwania the treasurer were arrested for allegedly leading junior officials in disrupting the exercise at Isunguni Primary School.
