The bodaboda operator identified as Job Atanga had attacked his female neighbour, accusing her of colluding with thieves to steal his cow.

The incident occurred on Thursday at Getenga village in Kisii South, Kisii County.

Area chief Eric Ongabi who confirmed the incident said the deceased, Peter Kebiro, tried to stop Atanga from beating up his neighbour Moraa when the incident occurred.

“The suspect was beating Moraa accusing her of being part of the gang of thieves who stole his cow. Kebiro who heard the woman screaming rushed to the homestead where he pleaded with Atanga to stop beating the victim but in vain,” said the chief.

The chief said Atanga got angered and turned the panga on Kebiro and chopped off his head.

“Atanga used a sharp panga to chop off Kebiro’s head. An angry mob descended on the suspect with kicks and blows before I rescued him and surrendered him to Gesonso Police Station,” said Ongabi.

The administrator said Moraa was taken to the Kisii Teaching and Referral hospital where is currently receiving treatment.

He assured residents that the suspect will be arraigned in court and charged with murder.

The chief warned residents against unnecessary fights saying no one will be allowed to cause mayhem in the area.
