Orengo has accused Ruto of grand corruption and insurbodination and has vowed to table a motion in the Parliament to dethrone him.

In an exclusive interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, the Siaya Senator said there were enormous evidence to prove the DP has committed gross misconduct, a ground warranting his impeachment.

“But when it comes to the DP, even after the war on corruption was launched, you open newspapers every other day and the stories you read about the deputy president it’s as if that war is not being fought,” the Senator said.

However, Thirdway Alliance Secretary-General Fredrick Okang'o has criticised Orengo over the remarks, saying it was wrong to link the DP to graft when he has not been arrested or charged.

"Orengo is a Senior Counsel and a lawyer that we respect so much. He can't go on a national television and tell Kenyans what he knows is not right," he said in an interview with NTV, Wednesday.

The politician went ahead and stated: "Orengo should withdraw his statement and apologize to the public."

Okang'o challenged the Senate Minority Leader to push for resignation of Principal Secretaries facing graft cases in courts and Cabinet Secretaries who have been grilled by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) before going for Ruto.

"The day DP is arraigned or convicted of corruption then they can start planning for his impeachment," said the Secretary-General of the former presidential contender Ekuru Aukot-led party.
