Opposition leader Raila Odinga for many decades has been 'ruling' the Nyanza region without opposition as his word is mostly considered supreme and no one would go against.
Odinga grew the ODM party since 2005 during the referendum times and ever since the party has become the cornerstone of the Luo Nyanza and Kenyan politics in which no one can 'win' an election in Luo Naanza using a different party.
As Odinga is aging, fresh, new bold and vibrant politicians have been emerging and being touted to replace Odinga in the region depending on their influence.
These are but a few likely successors of Raila Odinga:
1.Junet Mohammed
The Suna East Mp has been Odinga's darling legislator since 2013 and is polled to be in a far better position for Odinga to hand over the mantle of ODM Party.
Junet has formed the greatest pillar of Odinga since the contested 2017 elections and was among the very few who were present when President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila Odinga met at Harambee to end their political rivalry.
Junet is the heartbeat of Odinga and the most loyal and trusted by the ODM leader and does accompany Odinga to all functions.
2.James Orengo
The Constitutional lawyer and Siaya senator is a strong ODM pillar in Nyanza and his influence can be compared to that next to Odinga as he has amassed a lot of experience from the opposition chief in years.
3.Opiyo Wandayi
The Ugunja Constituency legislator made his name when he led ODM parliamentarians to blow whistles when president Uhuru Kenyatta was addressing the house which led to him being suspended from the house.
The Public Accounts Committee chair is considered the Raila Odinga die-hard who with his political maneuvers can be in a pole position to succeed Odinga in the Luo Nyanza region.
4.Miguna Miguna
The self-proclaimed NRMke General and the Canadian based barrister came to the light when he insisted Odinga should be sworn in as the alternative 'president' which granted him support from Kenyans and the Luo Nyanza region.
