Nakuru is a cosmopolitan county where residents live in harmony despite their diverse cultures and holds a special place in President Uhuru Kenyatta's heart.
It is the hotbed of Kenyan politics and has hosted major historical meetings.
It is in Nakuru at the historic Afraha stadium where Uhuru launched his presidential bid in 2013.
Uhuru and William Ruto unveiled Jubilee Alliance (an alliance that brought together TNA and URP parties) which propelled them to power in 2013 poll.
On April 2016, the leaders held a thanksgiving ceremony following the collapse of the crime cases at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
Speaking during the thanksgiving ceremony, Uhuru said they chose Nakuru as their thanksgiving venue because their story began there.
Nakuru also made history when it became the first county outside Nairobi to host Madaraka Day celebrations in 2016.
“Any political arrangement that starts in Nakuru has an impact across the country,” Andrew Nyabuto, a political analyst based in Nakuru, said.
Uhuru, again held his final Jubilee rally at Afraha Stadium in Nakuru during the 2017 presidential race.
The region is no doubt Uhuru’s golden town.
