Former Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto has warned Deputy President William Ruto over his continued stay in Jubilee Party, arguing that he may find himself without a party ahead of the 2022 polls.
In an interview with KTN on Wednesday, Ruto said the DP should have 'other plans' to avoid last minute embarrassment, adding that 'people like Murathe might kick him out'.
"As things stand, he might find himself without a party. Jubilee has its owners. People like Murathe (David) might kick him out. He must have other plans," said the former county boss.
Murathe resigned as Jubilee vice chairman early this year. He claimed that DP Ruto cannot succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta, adding that he's ready to start a movement with the aim of blocking Ruto's 2022 bid.
“There are a lot of people within Jubilee and outside Jubilee who share my sentiments. Going forward, the ‘Stop Ruto’ movement which we are going to start, there is no stopping it. Let them form their troops, and we have no problem, let the best side win,” said Murathe in a past interview.
Isaac Ruto was tipped to join cabinet early this year but the changes are yet to happen. Over the weekend, he hosted Chama Cha Mashinani delegates at his Bomet home, causing anxiety within DP Ruto's camp.
During the Wednesday's interview, Ruto also wondered why President Kenyatta had taken a low profile yet he had initially promised the DP support ahead of 2022 polls.
“We would advise him to have more people on his side. We have seen the senior group gang up against him. For example, I have not heard Uhuru talk about supporting his bid. I used to hear him before but he has kept quiet for the last two years,” he said.
