The angry traders condemned the killing of Zabron Nyakibwoga, a businessman.

They accused police officers of laxity leading to a rise in insecurity in the area.

"Police officers are sleeping on the job while thugs are killing innocent people. Nyakibwoga did not deserve to die a painful death. The government through the ministry of Interior should intervene and protect us," said one of the angry traders, Simon Okindo.

James Bosire, also a trader appealed to Interior Cs Fred Matiang'i to move with speed and beef up security in the area.

"We can't continue bragging about Matiang'i's powerful position in government while thugs are busy killing us. Let Matiang'i come to our rescue," said Bosire.

The traders asked Kisii County commissioner Godfrey Kigochi to ensure the family of the murdered businessman gets justice.

The County Commissioner, however, appealed to residents to be calm and promised that the killers will be brought to book.

"I want to assure residents of Magena that we have enough police officers to deal with insecurity in the area. No criminal will be spared," he stated.
