Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has not ruled out the possibility that he could partner with Deputy President William Ruto in the much-awaited 2022 general elections.
Speaking on Citizen TV's Jeff Koinage Live show (JKL) on Wednesday, the Maendeleo Chap Chap boss said anything is possible in politics.
The vocal governor noted that DP Ruto is among focused leaders in the country.
"You cannot rule out possibilities in politics but my focus as Mutua is, however, to be on the presidential ballot in 2022," he said.
The Machakos Governor said it is time for young leaders to stand up and reclaim the country's top leadership.
Governor Mutua maintains that he is best suited to take up the country's leadership.
He said his leadership will focus on enriching Kenyans if he wins the 2022 presidential election.
Mutua also vowed to confront corruption and poverty if he ascends to power in 2022.
There has been growing speculation that DP Ruto could pick the Machakos county boss as his presidential running mate in 2022.
Governor Mutua is, however, under pressure from a section of Kamba politicians who want to him to drop his bid in support of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka.
The politicians led by Mwingi Central MP Gideon Mulyungi claim that Mutua does not have the numbers and he is out to sabotage Kalonzo.
Nonetheless, Mutua insists that he will not drop his bid for Kalonzo.
The Machakos Governor fell out with Kalonzo after the 2013 general elections.
