Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has said that there is no way former Vice President Stephen Kalonzo Musyoka will ascend to power if the Kamba community does not register as voters.
Ngilu urged residents of Ukambani to turn in large numbers and register to make one of their own the President.
“We cannot have one of our own at the presidency if our people do not register as voters,” said Ngilu.
She also asked Wiper leaders not to joke with their desire to make Kalonzo ascend to the top seat.
On his part, Kalonzo reaffirmed his support for President Uhuru Kenyatta after the handshake with former Prime Minister Raila Amolo Odinga.
He said that the move was well-thought, adding that he will not change his mind.
Kalonzo spoke at his Mwingi North home in Kitui county after chairing Wiper’s National Executive Council and Parliamentary group meetings.
"As the Kamba community, we desire and want to be on the negotiating table with indisputable political backup for the highest seat on the land. There are no ifs nor buts in this fight for 2022.”
Kalonzo has maintained that he will be on the ballot box come 2022 no matter what happens to NASA.
