The frosty relationship between Raila Odinga-ODM and ‘rebel’ Coastal MPs, Aisha Jumwa of Malindi and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori is expected to take a new twist.
This is after the seven days they had been given to appear before the party’s disciplinary team elapsed.
Jumwa and Dori, who have openly declared their support for Deputy President William Ruto in the 2022 presidential race, had until Friday to appear before the party to explain why disciplinary action should not be taken against them.
However, they were a no-show, now pacing the way for a showdown with the Raila Odinga led opposition party.
While speaking during an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, Raila warned the two lawmakers against campaigning for another candidate outside NASA coalition.
“They are campaigning for another candidate. Has NASA coalition or its affiliate parties said that they are not going to produce a candidate in 2022?” Raila posed.
On Wednesday, a group of Coast MPs ganged up against the former Prime Minister warning him against taking disciplinary action against Jumwa and Dori. But with ODM determined to crack the whip to restore party discipline, where will it end?
