Kavindu was very vocal on matters of women and children when she was contesting for the seat.

Married to the former Senator in 1978, the politician promised to change the lives of the residents if she was elected the next Women Representative.

As a staunch Christian, Muthama’s ex-wife believed she had what it took to become the Women Representative.

She tried to ride on the support of Jubilee and her close relationship with President Uhuru Kenyatta to ascend to power.

She had also promised to deliver the seat to Jubilee but this did not come to pass.

"The President has always supported women... I promise to deliver," she said.

Kavindu was confident that women would back her candidature. “I know the women of Machakos will stand with me. I will fight for their rights,” she added.

Since she was floored, Kavindu has maintained a low profile. It remains unclear whether she will stage a political comeback in 2022.

She was among the forces to reckon with in the race for the women representative seat.
