Political analyst Dennis Anyonka has said that Deputy President William Ruto's decision to revive his initial attacks on ODM leader Raila Odinga is understandable.

The DP has repeatedly accused Raila of using his closeness to President Uhuru Kenyatta to frustrate and finally destroy the ruling Jubilee Party ahead of the 2022 general polls.

But Anyonka now says that Ruto is acting naturally, as he fears that the growing Raila-Uhuru romance might have dire effects on his 2022 presidential ambitions.

However, he noted that the DP's claims are baseless, saying Raila cannot in any way break the party led by Uhuru who is deputized by Ruto.

This he said with the consideration that the former Prime Minister remains an outsider, and the leader of the opposition, which makes it impossible for him to infiltrate into Jubilee.

Speaking on Radio Maisha's 'Bunge La Maisha', Tuesday morning, Anyonka said that Jubilee has since ceased being a coalition and is now a single party, which makes it impossible to break it into two or a number of factions, as Ruto and team have been claiming.

"Jubilee ni chama na sio muungano, kwa hivyo haiwezekani Raila ama mtu mwingine yeyote wa kutoka nje kuivunja. Pia, Raila ni kiongozi was upinzani, hawezi vunja chama ambacho yeye sio mwanachama kule. (Jubilee is an alliance and not a party which makes it impossible to be broken. At the same time, Raila is coming from the opposition, and cannot, therefore, break a party whose member he is not)," he noted.

The analyst further said thanks to Jubilee's failure to realize most of its campaign promises, Ruto has nothing to brag about and has settled on Raila to gain mileage ahead of the race.

"Ruto hana cha kufanya baada ya Raila kumuunga Uhuru. Pia, siasa zake zinaonyesha hana agenda na chochote cha kuambia wakenya isispokuwa kumpiga Raila. (Ruto has been rendered jobless since Raila joined Uhuru. He also lacks an agenda, and has nothing to tell Kenyans, making fighting Raila his only option)," he said.
