An angry woman attacked her husband's sister with a machete on Monday evening accusing her for stealing firewood.
The incident happened at Nyamonge village in Bokeira, Nyamira County.
Emily Nyabonyi said her sister-in-law, Rose Kadogo stole her firewood upon questioning her she started abusing and insulting her.
"I put my firewood outside to dry but, Kadogo stole them. When I asked her why she stole my firewood she started insulting and abusing me calling me a prostitute," said Nyabonyi.
Nyabonyi said she entered inside her house, picked a machete which she used to attack Kadogo with.
"I could not control my anger because Kadogo has been stealing my property since my husband died 1 year ago. I attacked her with a machete so that she can learn to respect me," she noted.
Area assistant chief, Charles Nyaronge confirmed the incident said Kadogo' lost her left hand during the attack.
"Kadogo's left hand was chopped off during the attack. She is currently at Kisii Teaching and referral hospital where she is being treated," he said.
Nyaronge said Nyabonyi escaped after the incident abandoning her 4 kids at home.
