In a tweet on Monday, the office of the director of public prosecutions said that top on the agenda of the discussions was the operalisation of the Proceeds of Crime Recovery Unit.

Areas of mutual collaboration were also canvassed in the Monday meaning.

"Swiss Ambassador to Kenya Dr. Ralf Heckner called on the DPP Noordin Haji to discuss areas of mutual collaboration. These include establishment and operationalization of the Proceeds of Crime Recovery Unit .@ODPP_KE, " the tweet read.

The meeting comes in the wake of high profile cases that the ODPP is prosecuting in the courts of law.

They range from corruption to murder cases.

Among those facing corruption charges pressed by the ODPP is the Treasury CS Henry Rotich who stepped aside over graft allegations.

There have been efforts made to create a unit within the office that will work on the recovery of proceeds of crime.

The unit has not been fully formed and it is hoped that the discussions between DPP Haji and the Swiss ambassador will help fast-track its formation.

"The Unit will be mandated with financial investigations, tracing, confiscation & recovery of proceeds of crime. They also discussed setting up of a prosecution fund to manage & administer proceeds of crime, " another tweet by the ODPP read.
