The body of Peter Kahugu  Maina was found in the roadside at Globe Cinema Roundabout in  Nairobi and had pointers to a possibility that he had been tortured before he passed away.

Confirming the incident, Nairobi county police boss  said that the lifeless body was found next to a student who was unconscious and was with Maina before he met his death.

The survivor who has been identified as James Kilonzo said that they were abducted from a club in Westlands before they were mercilessly beaten and dumped.

“He said their attackers thought he and his colleague were dead too before they were dumped there. We are still talking to him for more,” Philip Ndolo said.

In her statement, the University of Nairobi Students Association (UNSA) Chairlady Anne Mvurya condemned the heinous act and urged the police to speed up with the investigations to ensure that the killers are brought to book.

“I want to condemn the gruesome murder of comrade Paul Kahugu, a third-year Geospatial engineering student from the University of Nairobi. We are calling upon the police to speed with their investigations and we will not rest until they bring the culprits to book..may his soul rest in peace,” Anne Mvurya posted on facebook.

Maina's death comes at a time when several deaths relating to university students have been reported in the country. Most of these deaths have been as a result of love triangles, suicides and murder by thugs and robbery.
