Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka will have to think twice if Deputy President William Ruto promises to be a one term president and in return back his candidature in 2027.
Ruto is known for keeping his promises, he is not likely to betray Kalonzo if history is anything we can go by.
He promised to stand with President Uhuru Kenyatta and actually he supported him even after their cases at the International Criminal Court of Justice (ICC) were terminated.
On the other hand, Kalonzo has in the past supported several candidates for the presidential position including former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
A half a loaf is better than no bread.
Kalonzo will be in a better position to rise to presidency if he becomes the second in command in 2022 and reorganizes himself for the next contest.
With the support of Deputy President William Ruto, who will be the President, if things go as per their plan, Kalonzo will have the machinery to beat any candidate for the seat.
Both Ruto and Kalonzo agreed to bury their political differences for the sake of unity.
The duo will give other candidates sleepless nights if they form a coalition ahead of the 2022 elections.
Both Kalonzo and Ruto have the qualities to convince Kenyan electorates to support their presidential bids.
