At Mogeni Tea Factory, the second term governor asked local leaders to support county governments, arguing that unnecessary wrangles will only sabotage service delivery.

"As leaders we need to stop talking and concentrate on delivering to the people. They want to see quick tangible development. That's why we were elected," said Mutua.

He added: "At local level, we want to see synergy among all leaders. A conducive environment for development must be void of perennial politicking."

Dr Mutua backed President Uhuru Kenyatta's fight against corruption, adding that those running parallel campaigns are beneficiaries of fraudulent activities.

"If you haven't stolen, then stop fighting the president. We want to see thieves jailed for squandering money meant for development. That must happen whether or not they like it."

His sentiments were backed by Nyamira Senator Okong'o Mogeni who said the fight against corruption will be realised if leaders stopped politicising it.

"Let's not politicise the fight against corruption. Those who steal, do it without you. Do not defend them. Let them carry their own cross," he said.

The two leaders are set to briefly meet Governor John Nyagarama before proceeding to Tindereti Primary School in Nyansiongo for a fundraiser.
