Nakuru is one of the few counties in the country that made a name after shining in the 2018 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exams.
Governor Lee Kinyanjui took pride in the results and thanked all the stakeholders who ensured the stellar performance.
"We congratulate 2018 KCSE candidates in Nakuru County for their good performance. We thank the students and teachers for their hard work," Kinyanjui said.
Nakuru produced 19 students in the top 100 nationally .
The 19 students are from Langalanga Secondary School, Moi High School Kabarak, Nakuru High School and St Bhakita Bahati Girls Secondary School.
Langalanga Secondary is where Joseph Kuria Irungu, alias Jowie, was in Form One.
The school has been an academic underdog but seems to be rising.
Kinyanjui said he is committed to ensuring good education.
"I wish to reiterate my commitment to improve education standards in the County.In the past years, performance curve for both KCPE and KCSE have been on a downward trend and early this year, I convened a forum for education stakeholders to deliberate on how we can reverse this trend," he said.
