One can hardly mention Nakuru politics without the name Kimani Ngunjiri popping up. He is an outspoken Bahati Member of Parliament whose reign as a member of Parliament is littered with controversies and political theatrics.
At the moment, the vocal MP has made it his business to go on President Uhuru Kenyatta bare-knuckle accusing him of doing nothing as 'people lynch his deputy'.
But the MP is not new to controversy. One day, he blocked retired President Daniel Moi's motorcade that was heading to Nakuru state house.
Having been cornered by a land grabber in a tussle that would have seen him lose his piece of land, Ngunjiri caused a scene when he blocked the president's convey and called for his assistance.
He waited for Moi's motorcade and stood amidst the road blocking the motorcade, armed with title deeds and agreement as he screamed 'Babasaidia yatima yako'.
Efforts by Moi's hawk-eyed GSU to whisk away Ngunjiri were futile as his screams increased drowning the President's escort sirens.
Moi ordered his security personnel to let Ngunjiri board one of their cars to state house where he narrated his misery.
Moi saved the fire-spitting politician.
That is how Ngunjiri ended up becoming a 'Kanu boy' and climbed the ladder to be the Nakuru Kanu chairman.
