If there is one man who is now in a real political dilemma, it has to be Kilifi Governor Amason Kingi, who has to make two difficult choices with his political future at stake.
Now serving his last term as Governor, Kingi harbors presidential ambitions. However, the William Ruto and Raila Odinga factor is proving to be his major test in his illustrious career in politics spanning over one decade now.
Since the last general election, Kingi's commitment in ODM has been a subject of speculation. And immediately after the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga in March, the firebrand seemingly decided to chart his on own political future out of the Orange party.
Then, Ruto came calling. Since then, the duo has been close-so to speak politically.
Armed with other rebels, Kingi's relationship with Mombasa County Governor Hassan Joho has deteriorated with the latter deciding to stick with Raila.
Going forward, will Kingi make a u-turn and return to the ODM fold? Or will he stick with the DP to the bitter end? Whichever option he chooses, how will it impact his future political arithmetic?
Well, four years in politics is a very long time and much might happen.
