Deputy President William Ruto has been urged to be sincere about the sugar probe report that was recently rejected by parliament.
Navakholo lawmaker Emanuel Wangwe has said that the DP should not support the decision by MPs to shoot down the report.
“In the report we tabled, 135 are names of persons whom we found culpable of the vice. I think the Deputy President is too busy to read the report comprehensively," said the MP.
His sentiments come after the DP stated that the report was shallow and MPs were right to reject it.
The lawmaker was speaking o Saturday during the homecoming of Lurambi MP Titus Khamala on Saturday. The event was also attended by DP Ruto.
Wangwe further blamed DP Ruto advisers for misleading him about the sugar report.
The MP is the Parliamentary Agriculture Committee deputy chairman. He questioned why Ruto was defending the Treasury Cabinet Secretary Henry Rotich and his EAC counterpart Adan Mohamed.
“We are sorry because if that is the direction we are going to lead a government by frustrating a farmer, then it is wrong and we must look for a solution,” said Wangwe.
Recently, MPs rejected a report on the contraband sugar terming it shallow.
