The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) is set to implement the second phase of the collective bargaining agreement (CBA) that will cost Sh18 billion starting July 1, 2018. This phase covers period 2017/2021 and was signed in 2017 to cover 312,060 teachers.

Principals and their deputies in job group M and N will also get a pay increment where they will be receiving Ksh 90,612 and Ksh 77,840 respectively. 

Headteachers and deputy headteachers will be receiving between Ksh 40,849 and Ksh 60,613. 

All TSC employed teachers are set to have a pay increment and be entitled to hardship allowance, house allowance, commuter allowance, annual leave allowance, disability allowance and special schools allowances to qualified members.

The government has set aside Ksh5 billion for the recruitment of additional teachers.

 Ksh1.1 billion will also be used to build the capacity of teachers, for training and monitoring of the ongoing teachers' performance and appraisal tools under the curriculum based establishment.
