Differences between Senate Majority and Minority Leaders Kipchumba Murkomen and James Orengo came out clearly at the Annual Senate Legislative Summit on Monday.
The heavily attended forum is being held in Kisumu, where the two failed to agree, with Orengo downplaying such forums, terming them as almost useless.
The Siaya senator termed them mere talk shows where recommendations are only made for the sake of it but are never backed by any implementations once the forums close down.
"I must say here that these forums are just mere talk shop and this is why most of the recommendations made in the past have not been implemented," he was quoted by the Standard.
But Murkomen disagreed with the remarks, saying that the forums have been very instrumental on matters strengthening the Senate as has been seen previously.
The Elgeyo Marakwet Senator noted that it is through such forums that the county assemblies have received more empowerment to their current states.
"We have achieved a lot through the summits; like securing the independence of the county assemblies to handle their own vote," he said.
Murkomen added that such forums have gone a long way in empowering Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), saving them from being overshadowed by their county bosses.
The two have been also been having it hard agreeing on the political field, and have numerously gone for each other as a result of their carrying ideologies and political camps.
