Machakos Governor Dr Alfred Mutua has maintained that he backs the idea of life style audit.
Speaking on Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange Live Show on Wednesday, Mutua said that all government officials should be put to task to explain how they made their wealth.
He said that he supports a corruption free nation and an audit is among the ways to realize this.
He insisted that he is not asking for too much when he pushes for an audit, and also revealed that he has already submitted his documents to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for the lifestyle audit.
“It's not asking for too much demanding for lifestyle audits, especially from people who can access government machinery. Corruption is rife and we must fight it by demanding such truths” he said.
The Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader also said that he is against the impeachment of the Deputy President William Ruto.
He maintained that Ruto deserves to serve the people of this nation because he was elected alongside President Uhuru Kenyatta.
He also said that he wants Ruto retained so that he can beat him fairly in 2022 as he seeks to take over power from President Kenyatta following the completion of his second and final term in office.
