A primary school teacher was clobbered to death a chang'aa den by a man who was angered after he (the deceased) refused to share a glass of illicit brew.

The incident happened at Soko area in Borabu, Nyamira County. 

Area police boss Michael Lesmum said the deceased identified as Julius was a the den to drink chang'aa when the suspect Rodgers Mogendi hit him with a walking stick. 

"The deceased refused to give the suspect chang'aa at the den. Angered Mogendi picked a walking stick and hit the deceased from the back of his head killing him on spot," he said.

He said the suspect escaped from the scene but, he was nabbed 1 kilometer away. 

"The suspect tried to escape in vain. He was arrested to be taken to court on Monday to be charged over murder," he stated .

The police boss warned residents against selling, making, consuming and distributing illicit brews saying the government has not legalized the illicit brew business. 

 Lesmum said the chang'aa sellers has since gone into hiding in fear of arrest after the teacher's death. 

"Police are hunting down the chang'aa den owner," he added.
