Hundreds of residents thronged Samuel Ragira's home at Kerera village in Nyaribari Chache, Kisii County to pay their last respects to the fallen comrade.
Ragira's body was moved from the Chiromo Mortuary in Nairobi to Kisii on Friday ahead of the burial ceremony on Saturday.
Ragira is reported to have been shot dead by thugs believed to be members of the outlawed Mungiki sect.
Ragira was a former student leader at the University of Nairobi.

Mourners eulogised Ragira as a hero and condemned his murder.
"I could not miss attending Ragira's burial because he was a true hero. Those who killed him will not know peace," said Nickson Ongeri.
Mary Ratemo termed Ragira as a dedicated person who championed for the truth.
"He was killed because of his efforts to fight with cartels. He has left a mark behind and those who had a hand in the killing should know their days are numbers," she stated.

On her part, Emily Kerubo demanded justice for Ragira and wondered why his killers were yet to be apprehended.
"It is sad that we are attending Ragira's burial but police are yet to arrest those who killed him. We are burying his body but the spirit will remain with us. May he hunt down his killers and bring them down," said Kerubo a student at Kisii University.
