In what now seems to be a norm, President Uhuru Kenyatta drove his French counterpart Emmanuel Macron at State House on Wednesday as the two officially launcher Peugeot 3008.

The French president is in Kenya for a state visit and is expected to attend a United Nations Environmental Programme meeting scheduled on Thursday.

Uhuru, who smiled as he drove the new model in State House, said the move is a big boost to Manufacturing, which is one of his Big Four agenda.

"I am pleased to have been joined by my friend H.E. President @EmmanuelMacron of France in unveiling the Peugeot 3008 at State House, Nairobi. I am impressed with the progress PSA Groupe has made in delivering locally assembled vehicles in our country," he wrote

Uhuru added: "As we continue the journey of building a better Kenya with shared prosperity for all, we have prioritized manufacturing as one of the critical sectors for wealth and employment creation under the #Big4Agenda."

On Monday, President Paul Kagame of Rwanda also drove President Uhuru Kenyatta in Kigali as the two headed to and fro State House, a rare action by a sitting head of state.

Recently, a photo of Uhuru maneuvering in traffic jam at the streets of Nairobi surfaced on social media platforms. The president is though not a stranger in breaking protocols.

Peugeot is one of the oldest vehicle manufacturers in the country with an origin from France. During the meeting, Kenya-France relationships were discussed in length at State House.
