Nyamira County Senator Okong'o Omogeni has dismissed claims that he has been sleeping on the job since he was elected into office.
The vocal senator said he has been pushing for more funds to be sent to the devolved unit and termed the laxity claims as propaganda.
"I have been working very hard to ensure there is development in Nyamira. As a Senator, I will not sit back and watch Nyamira lagging behind in matters development. My critics should allow me to breathe fresh air as I deliver to the people of Nyamira," said the senator during an interview with Minto FM on Tuesday.
The first-term legislator regretted that despite pushing for more funds to the county, some greedy individuals within the devolved unit have been mismanaging the funds.
He attributed slow development in Nyamira to misappropriation of funds by greedy county workers.
"I should not take the blame as to why development is moving at a slow pace in Nyamira because I have done my part ensuring development funds are sent to the county. Let those mismanaging funds at the county carry the cross not me," he noted.
Okong'o appealed to Nyamira Governor John Nyagarama to kick out corrupt workers from the county for the purpose of realizing development.
