Former Tigania East MP Mpuru Aburi now says that the March 9 truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga has brought the two closer than what is seen by the public.

In an interview on Radio Jambo’s ‘Mazungumzo Waziwazi’ Thursday evening, Aburi noted that the two have been cooperating very closely lately.

The East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) lawmaker pointed out that they spent their entire day on Thursday together in State House.

‘’Raila sasa wako pamoja na Uhuru na hata leo Raila hajakuwa kwake Karen, amekuwa na Uhuru Statehouse (the two are very close now, Raila even spent most of his time with Uhuru at State House today),’’ noted Aburi.

The truce which came in the middle of a heated political exchange between the two leaders' has been hailed for aiding in bringing political calm.

The two also jointly participated in the Trailblazer Movement Awards in State House where Uhuru commended renowned women for their contribution towards the betterment of the nation.

Raila’s wife, Ida Odinga was among those feted after she was honoured with the  Elder of the Order of the Golden Award (EGH) award. 

Other women feted include former Karachuonyo Member of Parliament Phoebe Asiyo, nominated Senator Zipporah Kittony, author Wanjiku Kabera and 26 others.
