Earlier, a sublime curve by Hellen Ototo had thrown the hosts off-balance in a thrilling FKF Nationwide women league exciting fixture.

Strikes from midfield maestro Joyce Muthoni and striker Sharon Khalambisia could not rescue Wareng-based Salas from an inevitable defeat to visitors.

Before, the fixture, Starlets tactician Ongubo had raised fears that the team could not travel 250 KM trip due to financial constraints.

"We have a very strong team only that they lack financial support. We had a brilliant game despite the challenges.

"Our aim is to go back to Premier League and win trophies. This can happen because we'd produced players for the national team before," he said.

The 3-2 victory, he said, would improve discipline and morale when they face group leaders Nyuki Starlets at Sironga grounds on October 6th.

Currently, Starlets are position six on the league table but Ongubo insists they can do better should the team get consistent sponsors.

"We are facing Nyuki at home and I believe we can win the fixture. All we need is monetary support since we have missed fixtures before do to unfriendly financial pockets."

Starlets is one of few functional women football team from Nyamira and perhaps the entire of Gusii region.

The Nyamira based heavyweights, who have had some of their squad members such as Janet Bundi playing for Harambee Starlets, were relegated from the Premier League last season after dishonouring various fixtures due to limited finances.
