Senate Majority Leader Kipchumba Murkomen has hit out at the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) after it expelled two vocal legislators.
Malindi Member of Parliament Aisha Jumwa and her Msambweni counterpart Suleiman Dori were driven out over alleged gross misconduct by the party’s National Executive Council (NEC).
Apart from the expulsion from the Orange party, the duo will also be removed from all House committees they sit courtesy of being ODM members.
It is believed the Raila Odinga-led outfit took the tough disciplinary action after the two Coast legislators openly declared their support for Deputy President William Ruto who is eyeing presidential seat in the 2022 general election.
Following the move, Murkomen mocked the opposition outfit wondering why the MPs were ejected whereas Raila and Senate Minority Leader James Orengo, who are senior party officials, take pride in being advocates of rights and freedoms of individuals.
The Elgeyo-Marakwet lawmaker opined it was not wrong for Jumwa and Dori to associate with Ruto since he was ODM founding member and former deputy party leader.
"Who could believe that ODM of @RailaOdinga and Orengo James they of '2nd liberation' can expel any party member let alone leaders for associating with the DP, the founding member of ODM&former DPL? No wonder one of them recently told me it was a handshake not handshakes," Murkomen said in a Tweet.
The two MPs insist Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho was behind their ouster over what they claim is 'Coast political competition'.
