Ongeri while speaking in Kisii town on Tuesday said misuse of public funds will derail development in the county.

This, he said, could earn the perpetrators a curse.

“At my age, I may curse county workers who will be out to steal public funds meant for development. It is time county workers should focus on service delivery and not wastage of public money,” he said on Tuesday in Kisii.

Ongeri added that he is not going to sleep in his oversight roles in the county.

“I was elected to represent the electorate. I am not going to be lazy to oversight how the county will spend the funds sent from the national government. County ministers should use the funds allocated to their ministries appropriately failure to which, EACC and the DPP should do their work,” he noted.

He lauded President Uhuru Kenyatta for his efforts in fighting corruption.

The former envoy stated that houses constructed on riparian land should be demolished to keep off cartels who have a penchant for grabbing land.

He warned elected leaders against interfering with the demolition of houses to reclaim riparian lands.

The ODM Senator said cartels in Kisii County should not be allowed to construct houses on public lands.
