Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Noordin Haji Mohamed is among top state and public officers who have been honored with Presidential Awards this Jamhuri Day.
Haji has been awarded the Chief Order of the Burning Spear (CBS).
In a gazette notice dated 12/12/2018 and signed by President Uhuru Kenyatta, Haji and other state officers among them some governors and MPs are being honored for their distinguished and outstanding services rendered to the nation in their various capacities and responsibilities.
Haji was born and raised in Ijara constituency, Garissa county and took over the helm of the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions in April 2018.
A lawyer by profession, Haji schooled in Garissa for his primary and secondary education.
He holds a Bachelors Degree in Law and was the former Deputy Director at the National Intelligence Service (NIS) before he was appointed DPP.
Since assuming duties of DPP, Haji who is the son of Garissa senator Yusuf Haji has fearlessly led the war on graft.
His office has approved prosecution of top government officials linked to graft in the recent months.
A section of Garissa politicians led by Garissa Town MP Aden Duale has hailed Haji's performance in the fight against graft.
