The body of Stephen Kamau was found by local divers on Thursday afternoon, four days after he drowned alongside Stephen Kimuhu, 31, a good Samaritan who attempted to save him.

The body of Kimuhu was recovered the same day and taken to the Nakuru public morgue.

According to divers, the search mission was made difficult by the depth and temperature of the water in the dam. Residents lent a helping hand by using 10 water pumps to lower the water levels at the site.

Grace Nyambura, Kamau's mother, eulogised her son as a humble boy. She revealed that Kamau had been warned by his brother against swimming in the dam.

"Were it not for the grace of God, his brother would have also perished in the water as he tried to save Kamau using a stick," said Nyambura.

Kamau’s body was taken to the Nakuru County public morgue.
