Kitutu Masaba MP Shadrack Mose on Wednesday said the DP will be fundraising for several SDA churches, adding that the trip was organised a couple of months ago.

"The DP will be conducting a fundraiser for churches. The trip was organised several months ago and it should not be politicised. He will be joined by a number of MPs from the region," he said.

So divisive have been the DP's previous trips with a section of of local leaders often clashing over the DP's mission. Particularly, former Kitutu Masaba MP Timothy Bosire has been open about Ruto's trips, accusing him of launching 'fake projects'.

But South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro, who recently hosted Ruto about two weeks ago, says Ruto has a right to visit everywhere in the country, adding that his future is bright.

"I don't see why someone would feel bad that Ruto is visiting us. They can also visit if they wish. He is free to always share with us and I can assure you, ignore him at your own risk."

Both Kisii and Nyamira Counties have a combined voting population of 800,000 and the figure could hit 1.5 million after the expected IEBC mass registration.

In the past elections, ODM leader Raila Odinga has dominated the region in terms of popularity, winning both on 2007, 2013 and 2017.
