Embattled Nairobi County Assembly Speaker Beatrice Elachi has rubbished her impeachment.
Elachi says that her purported impeachment means nothing and that she will continue discharging her duties as Nairobi County Assembly Speaker.
In an interview with a local daily, the former nominated senator termed her impeachment as a non-issue.
She accused Nairobi MCAs of being malicious and targeting her for her tough stand against corruption.
“I am not bothered by the impeachment because it is a non-issue,” Elachi said on Thursday.
Earlier the same day, 103 MCAs out of 122 in a special sitting voted to impeach Elachi.
The embattled Nairobi Speaker has been accused of allegedly contravening the House Standing Orders.
The MCAs also accused Elachi of allegedly intimidating MCAs and county assembly staff in the name of fighting corruption.
