National soccer team Harambee Stars Captain Victor Wanyama could return in action for his English Premier League side Tottenham Hottspur as early as this weekend.
Spurs head coach Argentine Mauricio Pochettino says that Wanyama is back in training and is expected to be ready for first team action sooner than later.
“Victor has started to join the group. We’ll see if it’s possible for him to be involved in the FA Cup at the weekend. It’s very good news for us in the last few days to recover Moussa (Sissoko) and Lucas (Moura) and Wanyama is so close,” he told Spurs official website on Wednesday.
The Kenyan International has made only seven appearances in all competitions this season and has been laid low by a knee injury since he last featured against Crystal Palace on 10 November 2018.
Wanyama was reportedly on his way out of the team after being pegged down by injuries, but the talks of him leaving Tottenham have since died out in the recent past.
He is expected to be ready for selection for Harambee Stars ahead of this year’s edition of the Africa Cup of Nations.
The tournament will be held in Egypt in June, this year.
