President Uhuru Kenyatta has expressed his gratitude to residents of Kisumu and Siaya counties upon the completion of his two-day tour.
Uhuru began his visit in Kisumu on Friday, where he among other things, launched the Universal Health Coverage pilot program and commissioned the Kisumu - Kakamega Road.
On Friday, he was a visitor of Siaya County thanks to the invitation of opposition leader and his former arch-rival Raila Odinga who also doubles up as the region's political kingpin.
Uhuru who received a warm welcome in the region from day one, with thousands of people from the opposition bedrock showing up to receive him.
In a tweet late Friday, the Head of State added that he will continue collaborating with Raila for the benefit of the nation.
"Asante sana to the residents of the Counties of Kisumu and Siaya, for warmly welcoming me to your region during my two-day official tour. I assure you that my brother @RailaOdinga and I will continue to unite and work together to develop our nation for the benefit of all Kenyans," he tweeted.
Raila had earlier hinted that they will again embark on a joint tour of the remaining counties of Homa Bay and Migori early next year.
The visit came only nine months after the Uhuru - Raila truce of March 9 that brought to an end the political rivalry that was witnessed earlier in the year after their August 8 presidential contest.
