A recent Geopoll survey for the first quarter of 2018 shows that Kameme FM lags behind its closest rival, Inooro FM, everyday weekday from 4pm to midnight.
Before then, Kameme maintains a lead from 6am. The question that arises then is, why do Kameme listeners seem to 'migrate' to Inooro FM after 4pm?
Below are a few observations.
1. Kameme has boring presenters during this time frame (4pm-midnight). At 4pm is when both Kameme and Inooro drive shows begin. On Kameme we have the duo of PM² and 'faded' comedian, Man Solo Papa.
The two are accused by critics of being 'extremely boring'. There have even been calls on social media circles for PM² to hang her boots. Man Solo, on the other hand, is accused of cracking 'old and dry jokes', that tickle nobody.
Inooro on its drive show has Man Simo and Katta. The two are witty, funny and lively. Some even compare them with the duo of Salerio and Solanio in Willliam Shakespeare's Merchant of Venice play. The two are portrayed in the play as funny and witty characters.
2. Content: After the drive show, comes in the night show. Kameme has 'Mawatchmen' show steered by Kamau Kamlesh and singer-turn-comedian Man Nyari.
The show mainly has Man Nyari playing and singing a variety of songs listeners request. Every day, Kameme night show is more of a 'mugithi' show.
This doesn't seem to appease listeners apparently, who opt to stay on Inooro for a scoop of day's politics during Nderitu Waihura and Professor Ngugi Njoroge's show, 'Keera'.
Many more so village listeners are known to be very interested in knowing and understanding how the day politics were and how they affect them.
