Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka is a man under siege going by the current political developments in Ukambani.
The Ukambani political kingpin is facing a rebellion in his home-turf even as he eyes to contest the 2022 presidential election.
Kalonzo has remained silent as some of his close allies show signs of abandoning him.
The move by Ukambani governors Charity Ngilu (Kitui), Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni) and Alfred Mutua (Machakos) to form the People’s Empowerment Movement (PEM) has been interpreted by political analysts as a blow to Kalonzo’s political future career and specifically his 2022 presidential bid.
On Sunday, the three governors formed the movement which they said is a tool to champion development in Ukambani.
The governors said they will use PEM to unite and preach cohesion in Ukambani and other parts of the country.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, the movement could easily end Kalonzo’s career.
“It is going to be tough for Kalonzo to redeem his career following the formation of the People’s Empowerment Movement,” the analyst said in an interview on Monday.
As Kalonzo faces a rebellion in Ukambani, there are his die-hard allies who can neutralize the effect and ensure that he remains the Ukambani political leader.
Here are Kamba politicians who can 'save' Kalonzo from the raging rebellion and help him win the 2022 presidential election.
1. Johnson Muthama
The former Machakos senator has already rubbished the formation of People’s Empowerment Movement.
Muthama, a close ally of Kalonzo Musyoka says the Wiper leader remains the Kamba political leader.
He argues that the movement is a waste of time.
Muthama believes that the three governors don’t have influence and popularity to challenge Kalonzo.
He is expected to champion Kalonzo’s 2022 presidential bid in Ukambani and the country at large.
2. Mutula Kilonzo Junior
The Makueni senator has not commented on the ongoing political developments in Ukambani.
The youthful senator is a close ally of Kalonzo and is likely to defend the Wiper leader against the raging rebellion.
Kilonzo Junior is among the youthful Kamba politicians who Kalonzo are banking on for support in 2022 polls.
3. Daniel Maanzo
The Makueni Town MP has also remained silent on the political developments in Ukambani.
He is a close ally of Kalonzo and is likely to support the former Vice President.
4. Gideon Mulyungi
The Mwingi Central legislator is among vocal Wiper politicians and die-hard supporters of Kalonzo.
Mulyungi has been castigating governors Ngilu and Kibwana accusing them of allegedly frustrating Kalonzo’s 2022 bid.
The Wiper politician is likely to campaign and neutralize the Kalonzo rebellion in Ukambani.
5. Enoch Wambua
The Kitui Senator is also a close ally of Kalonzo Musyoka.
Wambua is among Kamba politicians who have rubbished the People’s Empowerment Movement.
6. Wavinya Ndeti
The former Kathiani MP is also a die-hard ally of Kalonzo.
Ndeti is among Kamba female politicians championing for Kalonzo’s presidency in 2022.
Kalonzo is among top politicians eyeing the presidency in 2022.
