Behind his glory lies a story which depicts how far he has come.

The celebrated lawmaker disclosed on his Facebook page that he hawked sweets and pulled carts to earn a living while he was in campus studying his degree.

Musyoka said though his parents were poor, they struggled to educate him.

He revealed that his study in the university was not a walk in the park.

"When I was a first year, I would hawk sweets, pull carts and even sell soda at crusades to earn extra coins that enabled me solve my monetary issues since I didn't want to burden my parents who had sacrificed so much," Musyoka said.

Musyoka said he didn't feel any shame while doing that because at the end of the day, he had pocket money which he used to buy himself meals.

He turned a deaf ear to the scorn of his classmates who saw him pull carts in town.

"One guy stood up in class and called asking me to explain how I pull carts in town yet I'm a university student, but I wasn't ashamed at all since I knew I was earning clean money by doing the job they considered dirty," he said.

Musyoka said at one time he was forced to sleep outside after failing to pay his rent while in campus.

What he went through made him stronger thus giving hope to youths who fear to make a step in bettering their lives.

"There are many guys suffering in the universities but they can't say because they want to live a lie with the mentality of 'what will people say?" Musyoka said.
