Gor Mahia defender Harun Shakava has is a bitter man, after he was left out of the 38-man Harambee Stars squad that was named on Tuesday.
Speaking to the media, Shakava said he was surprised that his name was not on the list, considering he has been in good shape with his club.
“Honestly, speaking I am not happy with the team selection because it was not done based on performance. My case is different, there is a grudge that is held against me because last year I skipped the Cecafa competition," he said as quoted by Goal.com.
He added: "I also remember pushing for my allowances, and as I result the bosses did not like it; it is the main reason why I have been left out.“This is a national team, let us always do things professionally, not to base our selections on unsporting events,”
The defender has been one of the standout players for Gor, which has had a near-perfect run in the local league as well as the continental CAF tournament, where they are on the verge of qualification to the next round.
Stars' coach Sebastien Migne named his squad which will face Ghana in a CAF Confederation match, with key inclusion being the Wanyama brothers of Victor and McDonald Mariga.
